Help International Officers Children

Hello!!
I hope this e-mail finds everyone well, happy and enjoying their summer.
I have a favor to ask all of you. I am involved with a WONDERFUL program called
Operation International.
We help the international officers and their families when they come to Fort
Leavenworth to adjust to life
here in the states.
One of our functions is to provide an American Orientation Course for the
spouses and the children of the
officers. It is an amazing opportunity to meet people from other countries and
learn about other cultures.
I am in charge of the program for the children.
This is the favor. I need some volunteers to help with the children. We
basically just work on things that help
them to get ready for school in the fall and let them know about being a kid in
the U.S. I will also need help in the
nursery:-).
The program will be for an hour and a half for eight days. If you are available
one day or eight days, it would be
very much appreciated!! It is located at the Baptist Church right across from
Wollman Aquatic Center on 13th and
Osage. The dates and times are; July 14th through July 23rd, 9:30 to 11:00.
So that is Tuesday thru Friday the first
week and then Monday thru Thursday the second week.
This is my third year to sponsor an international family and it is
so very rewarding. Many have said that this is the best year of their lives.
This is something that you can do with your older children/teenagers together
or for a teenager who is sitting at home with nothing to do.
Operation International is sponsored by the Leavenworth/Lansing Chamber of
Commerce so this is also an opportunity
to gather community service credits.

Homeschoolers swim at RCC!!

This is a reminder that the Leavenworth, Riverfront Community Center is offering a homeschool swim March 26th from 1:00 to 3:00.

I had thought that I had submitted my request before the survey posting. Anyway, I am a childen's librarian in Atchison, and also am a student at ESU enrolled in the masters of library science program. One of our courses is a community analysis. These are very helpful to libraries who are planning for the future. Lansing library has been in exisitence for ten years and has seen alot of changes in the community. So, if you could help me I would appreciate it and the Lansing library will also appreciate your input as they prepare to move into 2009 and a new facility. My assignment is due the 14th, so if you could help by the 10th, I would REALLY appreciate it! -cheryl s.
