FEBRUARY EVENT - Biblical History

Biblical History Event
Thursday, Feb 25
10 AM
Cost is $2.50 per child

This fun morning will focus on early Biblical history and Mesopotamian culture. The presenter, Jennifer Slattery, from Mythslayers Ministries, http://mythslayers.com has written several novels intended to help children understand and enjoy Biblical facts about the history of the world. The program will include:
*** A dramatic presentation about one of the characters from her novel "Journey to the Ice"
*** Grinding grain with mortar and pestle
*** Cunieform writing
*** A small Mesopotamian meal

FEBRUARY EVENT - Valentine Party

Valentine's Party
Tuesday, Feb 9 at Skyway Lanes
9:30 - 11:30 AM
Cost is $4 per bowler
RSVP to Angela by MONDAY, FEB 8

Also, we will have a valentine exchange! If your children are participating in that bring a bag/box and the valentines they would like to deliver. Angela will e-mail out the number or children on Monday evening.

February Parent Support Meeting

Our guest speaker for February had scheduling conflicts. We will hopefully be able to hear from Becca later this year.

November CHALK meeting

Our topic this month: A Charlotte Mason Discussion

Sendy was able to attend a Charlotte Mason Conference this summer. She is going to share what she learned with us. Come at 6:30 to snack and chat, the meeting will be from 7:00 - 8:00 pm.

10 AM at Kerby Farms
Corn Mazes, Hayrides, Farm Animals, Pumpkins and a Picnic!

$3 per person / RSVP to Angela by October 16

October CHALK Parent Support Meeting -- TUESDAY, OCTOBER 6

Our October meeting is Curriculum Night for Language Arts!

We will focus on curriculum for all aspects of Language Arts. So this is your chance to share your favorite Handwriting, Phonics, Reading, Spelling, Grammar and Language Arts materials. If you have younger children, bring the phonics and reading materials that have worked for you. We also need parents of older students to bring their favorite writing, grammar and spelling items.

We will meet from 6:30 - 8:00 pm with the first 30 minutes reserved for snacking and chatting. Feel free to bring a friend and a snack to share.

Leavenworth Public Library, in the Jahn Room (on the corner of 5th and Spruce)
The Jahn Meeting Room is the first room on the right as you come in the entrance hallway.

Unfortunately, there is NO childcare for this meeting.
Please bring friend and a snack. We will fellowship from
6:30-7, and have our discussion from 7-8.

Details:
We will be discussing our options for the rest of the year so that we can have childcare for the other meetings. We will go over the very basic requirements for homeschooling in KS, and will have an open discussion of school year plans and curriculum. This is our first opportunity to meet those new to the area, and to renew our connections with each other that may have fallen to the busyness of summer.

Please be in prayer as to how you might participate in CHALK this
year. We are in need of Board members to help plan our meetings and
schedule our field trips and family events. Consider this opportunity
for ministry, and talk with your family about what you can do!
